site.btaTransport Minister: Maxim Taxi App Must Be Removed from Google, Apple Platforms

The Ministry of Transport and Communications alerted Google and Apple about the taxi application Maxim available on their platforms despite offering a service, which does not comply with Bulgarian taxi regulations, the Ministry reported on Friday. Transport Minister Nikolay Sabev sent a letter to the two tech giants requesting that the app gets blocked for Bulgarian Google Play and Apple App Store users.

Representatives of the taxi industry met with Sabev in late May to request urgent measures aimed at hampering the operations of unregulated transport companies. The demands included taking the Maxim mobile app offline.

Currently, the company Taxi Maxim has discontinued operations and is in liquidation, which the Transport Ministry gave as examples of measures to tackle illegal taxi operations.
