Outgoing Tourism Minister Hristo Prodanov received Spanish investors and consultants interested in investing in the Bulgarian market, the ministry said on Friday. Prodanov presented the opportunities for the development of spa and balneo tourism in Bulgaria to Gonzalo Sivate from the Mediterrania Capital Partners Investment Fund and Alberto Lopez Rodo.
They confirmed that this coincides with their analysis, especially since spa and wellness tourism is practiced all year round. From the presentation made, it is clear that the investors' plans include the purchase of several high-end hotels in Sofia and Plovdiv, as well as the development of a spa tourism project in combination with vineyards, wine and ecotourism in the area of the Rose Valley.
The Spanish investors will open an office in Sofia by the end of the year. Its activity will be focused on exploring projects for investment in the tourism and real estate sectors in both countries, and in providing legal and financial advice and consultancy.
Minister Prodanov stressed that tourism is a leading industry for both Spain and Bulgaria. Foreign investors also have an important role to play to compensate for the decline caused by the COVID-19 crisis.
