Each gas station will decide for itself whether to grant a discount of BGN 0.25 per litre of A95 gasoline, diesel, natural gas (methane) or liquefied petroleum gas. This is provided for in amendments to the State Budget Act which come into force after midnight on Saturday, July 9. It is recommended that before refueling customers ask at the site if the discount applies.

This measure to offset rising fuel prices will be applicable until the end of 2022 to passenger cars category M1, mopeds or motorcycles of category L, owned by individuals. The drivers must present the small ticket of the vehicle to use the discount, the National Revenue Agency (NRA) said. Another important condition is that the discount applies to the lowest price fuel.

The compensation will be charged as a reduction from the final price when paying for the amount loaded at the cash register, regardless of whether this is done in cash or by bank card. For discounted fuel, the gas station will issue an extended fiscal receipt, which will include the registration number of the vehicle, the type and amount of fuel loaded, as well as the discount.

"Citizens will be able to take advantage of the planned compensation in the early hours of July 9. There will be no restrictions on the amount of fuel and the number of fillings. We advise people, before filling up, to ask at the gas station if the discount is applied at the site. We have the industry's assurance that the compensation will be provided in most large sites," said NRA Deputy Executive Director Georgi Dimov.

Gas stations will not change their software to provide the compensation. Each electronic system with fiscal memory which is used to report sales at fuel filling sites has been tested and approved with functionality for registering and reporting a discount, the NRA also reported.
