Control Union Bulgaria has seen a spike of over 100% in applications for textile standard certification, the Bulgarian Association for Textile Apparel and Leather (BATOK) told BTA.
Some of the main reasons for this include the increase in competitiveness, profit and the number of commercial partners, getting into the global database, regulatory compliance, improvements in the organization and processes in enterprises, as well as taking a "leading" position in the eyes of investors, rating agencies and analysts. Not least is the drive by a number of world-famous European brands to move their production to countries on the continent, thus eliminating the problem of extremely expensive and slow transport from Asia.
A global analysis for 2021 commissioned by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) shows that internet demand for sustainable goods has increased by 71% in the last five years. Fashion brands need to become sustainable, otherwise they risk not responding to changing consumer demand. Climate and nature must be fully protected, which is only possible by business transformation towards sustainable practices.
Control Union Bulgaria is part of the Peterson and Control Union group, which developed some of the first sustainability standards, BATOK recall. To date, Control Union Bulgaria, representing Control Union Certifications BV, offers certification under all dominant certification programmes in the textile industry: GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), GRS (Global Recycled Standard), CCS (Content Claim Standard), OCS (Organic Content Standard), RCS (Recycled Claim Standard), RDS, RWS, RWS, IVN BEST, among other, on the territory of Bulgaria and the neighbouring countries. The company is a BATOK member.
