Outgoing Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said that the cost of building 1 km of TurkStream is twice higher than the Greek Interconnector, despite the easier terrain. "No additional comments," Petkov said in his Facebook post Saturday.
TurkStream - BGN 3 billion and 0% of its capacity for Bulgaria and 0% diversification, he wrote, comparing it to the Greece-Bulgaria Gas Interconnector, which cost BGN 0.5 billion and has 100% of the pipeline's capacity for Bulgaria, results in a diversification equal to a third of this country's annual consumption at a cost of one-third that of Gazprom, he wrote.
Earlier in the day, ex-prime minister and GERB leader Boyko Borissov told supporters in Burgas that the interconnector with Greece, which Petkov officially opened Friday with his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis, was planned and financed during GERB's time in government. "Currently it is not ready and will not be ready for months, no work has been done as of yesterday [Friday] by the Government," Borissov said, also criticizing the incumbents for not having built a single bird house or a bicycle lane.
