The Government adopted a decision to terminate the concession agreement for the central railway station in Plovdiv (South Central Bulgaria), said the Transport Ministry on Tuesday.
The concession agreement was concluded in 2013 and entered into effect in 2015. It was terminated at the proposal of the concessionaire after the National Railway Infrastructure Company launched construction works on the territory of the railway station under an EU-backed project which will close the station for a long period of time.
By the same decision the Government authorized the Transport Minister to conclude an agreement with the concessionaire for an early termination of the contract by mutual agreement. The transfer of the railway station for management to the National Railway Infrastructure Company will allow the company to step up the construction of the railway station in Plovdiv and the city railway.
