Bulgaria's e-Government Ministry Thursday presented the National Coordination Centre (NCC) on cybersecurity it is establishing to aid the building and maintenance of sustainable cybersecurity in Bulgaria. Long-term preconditions for cybersustainability need to be created, outgoing e-Government Minister Bozhidar Bozhanov said during the presentation.
The NCC will be set up at a department of the e-Government Ministry and will carry out coordination with the cybersecurity expert community as well as the business community. The NCC will also carry out coordination on all projects of applicants from the cybercommunity as well as outside of it, the Minister said. The Centre will also provide legal and specialized support to applicants under cybersecurity projects within the EU Digital Europe and Horizon 2023-2027 programmes.
The NCC will be part of the European Cybersecurity Industrial, Technology and Research Competence Centre (ECCC) headquartered in Bucharest, Romania.
As the e-Government Ministry announced on July 12, the NCC is set up in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2021/887 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2021 establishing the ECCC and the Network of National Coordination Centres. Bulgaria's NCC will seek accreditation from the European Commission and from the ECCC so as to be able to share in the financing of small grants of up to EUR 60,000 or in third party financing.
