site.btaBulgaria, World Bank Sign Analytical Assistance Agreement for Current EU Programming Period
Outgoing Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds and Finance Minister Assen Vassilev and the World Bank's Country Director for the European Union, Gallina Vincelette, signed a framework agreement for paid consulting services within the current 2021-2027 programming period, the Finance Ministry said here on Thursday.
The document allows the Bulgarian Government to utilize the World Bank's significant international experience, including through the provision of advice on formulating policies and strategies, comprehensive sectoral analyses, planning of projects and support during their implementation.
"The agreement is signed in support of the Government's efforts for more effective EU funds absorption. Dealing with inequalities and improving Bulgarians' living conditions calls for a strong partner and we're exceptionally satisfied to work with the World Bank in that field," Minister Vassilev said during the ceremony.
The agreement is a continuation of the long-standing partnership in light of the 30th anniversary of the opening of the World Bank's office in Sofia. The document is also in support of this country's ambitions to equalize its living standards with those of the EU and create an inclusive, green and digital economy, while protecting people from the negative effects of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The fields of partnership include strengthening the institutions, improving public spending and public services and enhancing the sustainability of Bulgaria's economic model.
