site.btaParliament Reinstates Former Head of Energy Regulator Until New One Is Elected

Parliament reinstated former head of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) Ivan Ivanov after last week the Constitutional Court declared unconstitutional the election of Ivanov's successor, Stanislav Todorov. The decision effectively left the regulator unable to make important decisions on energy prices.

Ivanov's reinstatement was proposed by There Is Such a People party and was passed in a 132-2 vote with 8 abstentions.

Ivanov will be head of EWRC until the election of a new director.

Ivanov previously headed the regulator from April 2015 to January 2022.
