As of 30 June, 2022, the profit of the banking system was BGN 1 billion, by BGN 359 million (54.5%) more than the one reported for the six months of the previous year, the Bulgarian National Bank said on Friday.

Compared to end-March, loans to households increased by BGN 1.5 billion (4.8%), those to non-financial corporations – by BGN 582 million (1.4%), and to other financial corporations – by BGN 354 million (6.8%).

Loans to the general governments sector decreased by BGN 78 million (8.2%)

The gross amount of non-performing loans and advances at the end of June was BGN 4.710 billion (compared to BGN 4.832 billion at the end of March), and their share in the total amount of gross loans and advances was 5.24% (compared to 5.50% at the end on March).

At the end of June, the deposits in the banking system were BGN 121.8 billion, or BGN 2.1 billion (1.7%) more than at the end of March. There was an increase in the deposits of non-financial corporations (by BGN 1.2 billion, 3.3%), of households (by BGN 805 million, 1.2%), of credit institutions (by BGN 492 million, 7.7%) and of the general governments sector (by BGN 215 million, 6.5%). The deposits of other financial corporations decreased (by BGN 658 million, 14.3%).
