site.btaBulgaria's Gas Storage 48.85% Full, Compared to 75.54% EU Average
By August 2, 2022, Bulgaria's underground natural gas storage facility at Chiren was 48.86% full (0.56% up from a month earlier), the Aggregated Gas Storage Inventory reported on Thursday.
By comparison, Portugal and Poland had filled their storage facilities at 100% and 99.1%, respectively, followed by Denmark (88.78%), France (80.45%), Italy (73.58%), and Germany (69.92%). The EU average was 70.54%.
EU Member States are required to fill at least 80% of their underground gas storage facilities by October 1 and 90% by November 1.
Of the 778.6308 TWh gas in storage EU-wide, Chiren holds 2.8349 TWh.
The same database shows that the working gas volume of the Bulgarian facility is 5.8-25 TWh, and the daily injection is 32.34 GWh. The daily injection capacity is 38.18 GWh, and the daily withdrawal capacity 40.3 GWh.
Bulgaria's natural gas consumption for 2020 was 33.587 TWh.
