site.btaQ2 Building Permits for Residential Projects Increase 21.6% Q/Q

The number of building permits for residential projects issued by the municipal authorities in the second quarter of 2022 increased by 21.6% from the previous quarter, while the number of housing units in them rose by 45.5% and the gross floor area by 44.5%, the National Statistical Institute said Thursday.

Newly issued building permits for residential buildings in the second quarter totaled 2,249. The projects will have a total of 13,810 housing units with total floor area of 1,692,823 sq. m.

Permits were also issued for 20 administrative buildings/offices with 23,464 sq. m floor area and 1,164 other buildings with 697,715 sq. m gross floor area.

The issued building permits for administrative buildings show an increase of 11.1% and their gross floor area increased by 39.9%. Issued building permits for other buildings rose by 8.7% and their gross floor area by 21.8%. Compared to the second quarter of 2021, new building permits for residential buildings increased by 28.9%, the housing units in them by 38.8% and the gross floor area by 43.3%. The building permits for administrative buildings and their gross floor area decreased by 23.1% and 47.7%, respectively. The building permits for other buildings fell by 4.1%, while their gross floor area went up by 55.4%.
