In July 2022, the general consumer confidence indicator increased by 3.0 percentage points compared to its April level, mainly due to the increased confidence among the urban population, the National Statistical Institute said on Friday.
Consumers’ opinions about the development of the general economic situation in the country over the last 12 months and their expectations for the next 12 months are less negative compared to the previous survey. Pessimism was observed in assessments about changes in the financial situation of households over the last 12 months and in expectations about the next 12 months.
As regards unemployment, it is expected to remain at approximately April levels over the next 12 months.
In July, consumers’ assessments of the change in consumer prices over the last 12 months were unfavourable. However, their inflation expectations about the next 12 months are less definitive.
A slightly more positive attitude was established in consumer intentions regarding the purchase of durable goods and home improvements over the next 12 months.
