site.btaEconomy Minister Stoyanov Meets With Employers to Discuss Priorities

More joint initiatives, operational dialogue on priority issues and using the expertise of employers and trade unions in shaping policies in the sector. These are some of the priorities that caretaker Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov presented at a meeting with the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB), the Economy Ministry said on Thursday.

The talks were focused on Stoyanov's initiative and continue the series of expert discussions on the state and future of the Bulgarian economy that began with all trade unions and employers' organisations on the first day of his mandate. 

For business, the priority task is to prepare the economy for the coming winter and security of energy supplies, the CRIB stressed. According to them, there are also many unknowns around the Bulgarian Recovery and Sustainability Plan, which is a historic opportunity for our country, which we must use efficiently. The ongoing price increase of construction materials is another serious issue for the members of the Confederation. A better dialogue with the executive power was also demanded in monitoring projects with EU funding and taking into account the consequences of the global pandemic on the activities of enterprises. 

"Our government will not have the comfort to deal only with the organisation of elections because the problems are many and they require an immediate solution," Stoyanov said. Among the issues that employers and trade unions raised at the talks were energy security, the Green Deal, and measures to promote growth. "Our time is short and that is why we rely on business and trade unions to actively participate in the processes and give feedback on the policies being implemented," Stoyanov added. 

On behalf of the employers' organization, the meeting was attended by members of the Board of Directors of KRIB Stoyan Stavrev and Lyubomir Peinovsky.
