The necessary quantities of gas have already been secured for September, caretaker Energy Minister Rossen Hristov told journalists on Friday.

"A tender was announced and ended successfully for the insufficient quantities for September. The price is quite good," the Minister pointed out.

Negotiations are currently underway with several companies for gas supplies for October, November and December. It is expected that first the quantities will stabilize and the price will be at a lowest possible level.

"For now, I cannot give guarantees because we have not signed a contract. In addition, the terms of the offers are confidential, but rest assured that we will resolve the issue," assured Hristov. He added that negotiations are also underway to secure slots with Greece and Turkey.

Later in the day, Balkan Gas Hub reported that 43 companies were eligible to participate in the auction held on Friday.

"Amid huge interest and dynamic bidding, the auction was successfully concluded, with all the volumes sought through the trading platform for September 2022 by Bulgargaz amounting to 11,300 megawatt hours per day (MWh/d) being traded," the announcement said.
