site.btaDried Up River Causes Water Supply to Svoge to Stop, State of Disaster Declared

The Municipality of Svoge, 40 km north of Sofia, declared a state of disaster on Monday night after a meeting of a disaster and accident response task force. The decision came after the Iskretska River suddenly dried up, which cut off water supply to the town of Svoge and the nearby villages of Iskrets, Svidnya and Tserovo.

Water trucks will be sent to the affected areas.

Areas will be surveyd urgenty for drilling wells.

The task force will discuss building emergency connections to existing water sources for alternative water supply.
