Agriculture Minister Yavor Gechev and the leadership of the National Association of Grain Producers on Friday discussed measures to guarantee food security and stepped up control over grain imports from third countries, said the Ministry on Friday.

Grain producers underscored the challenges they are faced with at the moment, “We are looking for legal, viable and swift measures for protection of Bulgarian producers,” said Minister Gechev.

As a possible measure, the representatives of the Ministry and grain producers discussed the separation and monitoring of Bulgarian-produced grain and Ukrainian imports based on good practices which are already applied in EU countries.
