At the end of July 2022, deposits of the non-government sector increased annually by 10.3%, while loans to non-financial institutions were up by 11%, year-on-year, the Bulgarian National Bank said on Tuesday.
Deposits
At the end of July 2022, deposits of the non-government sector were BGN 108.381 billion (70.1% of GDP), increasing annually by 10.3%.
Deposits of non-financial corporations stood at BGN 36.164 billion (23.4% of GDP) at the end of July 2022, increasing by 18.2%, compared to the same month of 2021.
Deposits of financial corporations increased by 2.8% in July 2022, year-on-year, and at end-July they stood at BGN 3.820 billion (2.5% of GDP).
At the end of July 2022, deposits of households and non-profit institutions serving households (NPISHs) stood at BGN 68.397 billion (44.3% of GDP), up by 7% from July 2021 (6% annual growth in June 2022).
Loans
At the end of July 2022, claims on loans to the non-government sector amounted to BGN 76.938 billion (49.8% of GDP), compared to BGN 75.856 billion (49.1% of GDP) at the end of June 2022. They increased by 13%, year-on-year.
Loans to non-financial corporations went up by 11%, year-on-year, reaching BGN 39.8 billion (25.8% of GDP) at end-July 2022.
Loans to households and NPISHs exceed BGN 31.5 billion (20.4% of GDP), up by 14.9% from July 2021. Loans for house purchases amounted to BGN 15.35 billion, increasing by 18.2% year-on-year. Consumer loans amounted to BGN 14.56 billion, growing by 13.1% from a year earlier.
In July 2022, loans to employers and self-employed rose by 10.4%, year-on-year, adding up to BGN 429.6 million (3.8% annual growth in June 2022).
At end-July, loans to financial corporations amounted to BGN 5.56 billion (3.6% of GDP), which is an increase by 17.7%, compared to July 2021.
