site.btaRose Growers Propose Draft Rose Strategy

An association of leading growers of rose and essential oil bearing crops on Tuesday submitted to the Agriculture Ministry a draft strategy for the development of Bulgarian rose growing and rose processing, the Ministry said.

Deputy Minister Todor Dzhikov and Peter Kirovski, head of the Plant Growing Department, made a commitment to restore an interdepartamental group which began work on a sectoral strategy in 2020.

Among the highlights of the strategy proposed by rose growers are inclusion of the sector in special employment schemes, linking government incentives and regulations with research for the preservation of the quality of roses and rose oil, introducing innovations, restoring and expanding Bulgaria’s positions on the external markets of oil rose products, promoting the rose as a symbol of Bulgaria and boosting ties with tourism.
