Combining work with a holiday at the seaside is becoming an increasingly affordable and preferred choice for Bulgarians this summer, as more and more employers provide their staff with opportunities for remote work, which in turn extends the summer season until the end of September, according to data from karavani.bg, Bulgaria's largest online caravan booking platform.
The combination of work and vacation - workation - which became extremely popular on a global level during the pandemic, turns out to be a sustainable and even growing trend this season in Bulgaria. One reason is that companies continue to offer their employees the option of working outside the office. This was confirmed by 71% of those who participated in a Karavani.bg poll distributed among users on social networks over the period August 18-22.
Bookings until the end of September made through the platform are significantly increasing, which extends the summer season this year. "Compared to last year, bookings for the upcoming month of September have doubled, and we expect them to grow up to three times compared to 2021," said the creator of the platform Nikolay Nekov.
Combining work with holidays is also emerging as a long-term decision. Given a choice of how much time to spend at the seaside while working, more than half of respondents (61%) prefer it to be for a period of a month or more, and 18% would do it for at least two weeks.
Until the end of this season, the online platform is offering a new service for progressive companies: caravan holidays for their employees and their families.
