Preliminary data show an improved performance of transport, both freight and passenger, in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the like period of 2021, the National Statistical Institute said here on Friday.
The number of passengers in passenger transport by land, water and urban electrical transport rose by 17.4%. The overall passenger transport performance (measured in passenger-kilometer) increased by 30.5% compared to the second quarter of 2021.
The performance of freight transport by land and water increased by 1.7% and 5.6% year-on-year, respectively.
Goods carried via land transport increased by 1.8% and the performance of this type of transport rose by 5.9% from the same quarter of 2021 (measured in tonne-kilometers).
Goods carried by sea and inland waterway transport went up by 1.3%, while the transport performance declined by 8.7% in comparison with the same quarter of 2021.
Passenger transport
The number of passengers carried in land transport increased by 14.3% and the transport performance growth by 31.4% compared to the second quarter of the previous year.
In water transport, the number of passengers increased by 24,000 and performance improved by by 117,600 passenger-kilometers.
Operators of urban electrical transport carried 22.1% more passengers and the performance improved by 24.9%.
