The Energy Ministry Sunday said that the capacity of Greece's LNG slots had long been reserved by private companies, which are selling it at much higher prices. The Energy Ministry was reacting to former prime minister Kiril Petkov's statement in a bTV interview earlier in the day that the caretaker government had failed to reserve LNG slots in Greece for six more gas tankerloads arranged by his cabinet.
If any slots had been available, one wonders why the Petkov cabinet did not reserve them, the Energy Ministry said. It added that a letter of July 27 from the then director of public gas supplier Bulgargaz to the Energy Ministry said that slots for the suggested amounts were not offered at the Revithoussa LNG Terminal, while the price of capacity at Interconnection Point Kulata-Sidirokastro had increased fourfold from the original price.
