The leader of the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB), Kiril Domouschiev, Wednesday voiced his organization's concern about the current economic development of Bulgaria and the region following the pandemic and amid the Ukraine war, and how it is affecting the price of natural gas and oil. Domouschiev was speaking ahead of a speech by former US State Secretary Mike Pompeo at a KRIB-hosted event in Sofia.

Pompeo's speech focused on the geopolitical significance of Bulgaria and its potential as a regional energy leader.

Domouschiev said that KRIB have always supported democracy, free economy, and Euro-Atlantic and trans-Atlantic development. In previous years, it was focused on encouraging domestic production of shale gas as a way to achieve independence from unreliable partners, including Gazprom, he added.

KRIB brings together more than 12,000 companies which account for three-fourths of the production in Bulgaria, said the organization's leader.
