site.btaIndustrial Production Index Up 17.7% in July Y/Y
The Industrial Production Index increased by 17.7% in July 2022 compared to the same month of 2021, show calendar adjusted preliminary data released by the National Statistical Institute on Friday. According to seasonally adjusted data, the Index grew by 0.9% compared to June 2022.
Compared to June 2022, an increase was registered in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (12.7%) and in the mining and quarrying industry (3.9%), while a decrease was observed in manufacturing (1.6%).
In manufacturing, a notable drop was seen in other manufacturing (17.8%), in the manufacture of tobacco products (16.9%), in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (10.7%), in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (8.1%), and in the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (8.1%). A more significant increase was registered in the manufacture of other transport equipment (10.1%) and of computer, electronic and optical products (9.1%).
Compared to July 2021, an increase was reported in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (51.7%), in the mining and quarrying industry (17.9%), and in manufacturing (12.1%).
In manufacturing, a more significant year-on-year increase was observed in the manufacture of: computer, electronic and optical products (50.6%); other manufacturing (44.3%); other transport equipment (32.7%); and beverages (29.7%). A notable decrease was registered in the manufacture of: tobacco products (20.7%); leather and related products (11.3%); printing and reproduction of recorded media (4.4%); chemicals and chemical products (4.0%); and textiles (2.7%).
