In July 2022, the calendar adjusted turnover in retail trade, except motor vehicles and motorcycles decreased by 0.7% compared to July 2021, the National Statistical Institute reported on Friday. At constant prices, the seasonally adjusted retail trade turnover was unchanged from June 2022.
Month on month, the July 2022 turnover decreased by 3.5% in the retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco and increased by 2.0% in the retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores and by 1.2% in the retail sale of non-food products (except fuel).
Within the retail sale of non-food products (except fuel), the turnover grew more significantly in the retail sale of audio and video equipment; hardware, paints and glass; electrical household appliances (by 2.6%) and in dispensing chemist; retail sale of medical and orthopaedic goods, cosmetic and toilet articles (by 2.3%). The turnover declined by 5.0% in the retail sale of computers, peripheral units and software; telecommunications and by 2.0% in the retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet.
Year on year, the July 2022 turnover dropped by 10.2% in the retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco and increased by 5.0% in the retail sale of automotive fuel in specialized stores and by 4.0% in the retail sale of non-food products (except fuel).
Within the retail sale of non-food products (except fuel), the turnover grew more significantly in the retail sale of textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods (by 29.2%), the retail sale in non-specialized stores (by 9.6%), in the retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (by 6.9%), and in the retail sale of audio and video equipment; hardware, paints and glass; electrical household appliances (by 2.3%). The turnover in the retail sale of computers, peripheral units and software; telecommunications equipment went down by 5.1%.
