The Association of Bulgarian Fashion Designers (ABFD) has opened a Social Justice Centre (SJC) where support for young people from the minorities and socially disadvantaged in their career orientation, said the Bulgarian Association of Textile, Apparel and Leather (BATOK) of which ABFD is a member.
The centre was launched on September 1 in Sofia with a lecture titled “You can!”.
The centre will host monthly theoretical seminars and practical classes. The classes will be held at different locations according to the chosen subject, allowing the young people to experience a real creative and working environment, and thus acquaint them with career opportunities.
The programme aims to broaden the horizons of the adolescents, to create communities and groups with similar interests and develop their talents. One of the main priorities of the SJC is to inform young people, help them in their career orientation towards creative professions and, last but not least, encourage and prepare them to continue their education
Lectors at the centre will be ABFD members, noted designers, students and professionals working in fashion industry.
"The centre will welcome young people of any origin and identity," said ABFD Chair Iren Velkovski. She expressed confidence the project will help a varied group of young people prepare for vocational colleges and give themselves a chance for a successful career.
