While industrial production in July contracted by 0.8% year-on-year in the EU and by 2.4% in the euro zone, Bulgaria reported a growth of 17.6%, which is the biggest in the EU, according to seasonally adjusted statistics published by Eurostat Wednesday.

Thus Bulgaria returns to the top position in terms of industrial production in the EU after losing it in June to fall to the third place.

The month-on-month decrease in industrial production was 1.6% in the EU and 2.3% in the euro zone.
