site.btaTourism Minister Dimitrov, Bulgarian Industrial Association Representatives Discuss Problems and Policies in Tourism Sector

Caretaker Minister of Tourism Ilin Dimitrov and representatives of the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) discussed basic problems and policies in the sector, Dimitrov’s Ministry said on Friday. Topics includes the price of electricity and natural gas, the heavy winter expected and how these will reflect on tourism . 

The delay of payments to hotelers who have accommodated Ukrainian refugees was the first problem raised by Dimitrov. He detailed the reasons and the mechanism of data verification for payments to be made.

The second acute problem he encountered were the delayed categorisations, the Minister said, adding that progress was being made to resolve the issue. Another problem solved at this stage are the measures against COVID-19 and their easing, and Minister Dimitrov underlined the good cooperation with the Minister of Health which benefits tourism.

As to policies in the medium term, Dimitrov commented on the establishment of a guarantee fund, moving forward the ordinance on tourist markings and the establishment of a standard branch organization and advertisement. The text of the digital ad is ready and will be tabled in the National Assembly, he said.
