site.btaTU: Bulgaria Has 56 Weekly Working Hours vs EU Maximum of 52

Bulgaria's working week is 56 hours as against a maximum of 52 hours in the EU, Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) Vice President Todor Kapitanov said at Tuesday's discussion on the latest Labour Code amendments. It is organized by the trade union and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Bulgaria.

This country has not aligned its regulation on working time accounts to the EU directives, Kapitanov said. Under EU legislation and the ILO Convention, working time accounts can be used only in continuous process industries.

He recalled that CITUB launched a campaign for pay rises and job security on Monday.
