At the initiative of Tihomir Patarinski, Bulgarian tourism attache in Germany, Bulgaria was presented as a year-round tourist destination on the German market, the Tourism Ministry said. Alternative forms of tourism such balneology, trekking, tours, culture, golf and etc were highlighted. Black Sea destinations were presented with additional information about the sea resorts, smaller settlements and opportunities for cultural tourism. Opportunities for health tourism funded by Germany’s health insurance funds were presented too.
The event took place on the eve of World Tourism Day. Bulgaria held an evening dedicated to Bulgarian tourism in Berlin, which was opened by Bulgarian Ambassador to Germany Elena Shekerletova. The event was organized with the support of the Bulgarian Cultural Centre in Berlin, which marks its 60th anniversary in 2022.
Participating in the presentation were the Germany-based representatives of the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Varna Municipality, and the Albena Resort.
German media specialized in tourism, representatives of the German tourism industry, hospitality workers and potential tourists also took part.
A presentation of traditional Bulgarian wines and specialties was held.
This summer season better results are expected for scheduled flights at seaside airports, and for the German market they mark an increase by 18% (data by July 27). Between June 1 and July 25 2022, the total number of bookings at accommodation places exceeded 1.8 million. The internal market remained leading, followed by the Romanian market with over 260,000 bookings, the Polish market, with over 98,000 bookings, and Germany with over 70,000 bookings. After stepping in office, Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov said that among his priorities are improving the visibility of Bulgaria through high-level meetings to show Bulgaria’s readiness to welcome tourists in order to promote the season. In this respect the Caretaker Tourism Minister said that he is preparing a roadtrip to near and mid-range markets, including Germany.
