Public supplier Bulgargaz is not worried that the required amount of natural gas for November will not be provided. The aim is to procure it at a competitive price, according to Bulgargaz Executive Director Deniza Slateva, who spoke at Wednesday's meeting of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission to approve the price for October at which the public supplier is to sell natural gas to the end suppliers and to persons who have been issued a license for the production and transmission of thermal energy. Slateva added there are indications that the requirements will be met with binding offers from interested companies. This will also be the approach for gas supply in December and in 2023.
The current increase in gas market prices is likely to have an impact on Bulgargaz’s price for November, Slateva believes. She added that the company has announced four tenders for LNG supply, and the tender for pipeline gas is also to be announced. The first assessment will be made today (September 28) which companies meet the requirements and conditions for gas supply in November. The selection of the supplier or suppliers is expected to take place by October 4.
"There is a lot of interest in both the November and December tenders, as well as the annual and ten-year tenders," the Bulgargaz CEO noted. According to her, the fact that there are companies from all over the world - America, Europe, China - shows that this is the right approach. She hopes that through these open, competitive and transparent procedures, a good price for November will be achieved.
A major online event for interested companies for the 10-year tender is coming up on October 20, the Bulgargaz CEO added.
"I think this is the right approach to achieve good price levels and to pass on these benefits to the customers: be it households, gas distribution companies or large industrial enterprises," Slateva pointed out.
