site.btaAugust 2022 Total Producer Price Index Up 8.7% M/M, Over 50% Y/Y

The total producer price index in industry increased by 8.7% in August 2022 compared to the previous month, the National Statistical Institute said Friday.

Much higher prices were registered in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 28.0%), as well as in the mining and quarrying industry (by 5.6%), while prices lower by 1.6% were observed in manufacturing.

The producer price index on the domestic market rose by 12.5% in August 2022 month-on-month. Domestic prices in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply went up by 26.5%, and by 5.3% in the mining and quarrying industry. Prices in manufacturing fell by 1.1%.

The total producer price Index rose by 50.3% in August 2022 year-on-year. Prices spiked by 130.6% in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, in the manufacturing by 22.7% and in the mining and quarrying industry - by 9.0%.

The producer price index on the domestic market went up by 68.2% in August 2022 compared to the same month of 2021. Prices in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply rose by 129.2%, in manufacturing by 29.7% and in the mining and quarrying industry - by 12.0%.
