site.btaEnergy Minister Discusses Cooperation Opportunities With Azerbaijan's State Energy Company SOCAR

Energy Minister Rossen Hristov met with representatives of the management of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), headed by Murad Heydarov, CEO for the Balkans, the ministry said on Wednesday.

During the meeting, which took place at the Energy Ministry, various opportunities for cooperation were discussed, touching upon issues of common interest to both countries in the natural gas and electricity sectors. SOCAR representatives expressed interest in cooperation with the Bulgarian side in a wide range of activities. The participants considered the idea of opening an office representing the company in Bulgaria. 

Executives and experts from Bulgarian state-owned energy companies – Bulgarian Energy Holding, National Electric Company, Electricity System Operator, Bulgargaz and Bulgartransgaz, also attended the meetings. Heydarov's visit is a continuation of the talks held in Sofia during the two-day official visit of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on September 30 and October 1.
