site.btaITA Airways Becomes Latest Airline to Fly Directly between Sofia and Rome
A water salute at Sofia Airport on Wednesday welcomed an aircraft of the ITA Airways airline and marked the start of the airline's regular direct flights between the capital cities of Bulgaria and Italy. The flights will be three times a week, between Sofia Airport and the Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome.
Officials, diplomats, top managers from the Sofia Airport welcomed the passengers from the flight which included Italian Ambassador in Bulgaria Giuseppina Zarra.
Speaking at the welcoming ceremony, Ambassador Zarra said that the new regular flight will benefit people, the business and the development of tourism. "We are expecting you all in Italy," she said.
Jesus Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect which operates Sofia Airport, welcomed ITA Airways and said that this is the latest step in the development of Sofia Airport.
