site.btaBulgaria Registers 16.5% Annual Industrial Production Growth in August - Highest in EU
Bulgaria registered a 16.5% annual industrial production growth in August 2022 - the highest in the euro area, according to the latest seasonally adjusted industrial production report by Eurostat. This is a deceleration compared to July, when it reached 18%. In July, the year-on-year increase in Bulgarian industrial production ranked Bulgaria first among the EU Member States again.
Industrial production was up by 1.5% in the euro area and by 1.1% in the EU in August.
Industrial production here dropped to 0.7% in August compared to the previous month.
In July, compared to a month earlier, industrial production fell both in the EU and the currency area by 1.5% and 2.3% respectively. In August, compared to the same month in 2021, industrial production increased by 3.5% in the EU and by 2.5% in the euro area.
Data about the main industrial groupings in Bulgaria suggests that in production of capital goods rose by 1.7%, of non-durable consumer goods by 3.1% compared to July of the same year. On the other hand, production of durable consumer goods dropped by 6.1%, intermediate goods by 0.5%, energy by 0.2%.
August 2022 saw increases in all main industrial groupings here compared to August 2021: by 34.3% in capital goods, by 10.4% in non-durable consumer goods, by 3.1% in durable consumer goods, by 2.3% in intermediate goods, and by 37% in energy.
