site.btaUnemployment Hits All-Time Low in September in Both Absolute and Relative Terms
There were 138,380 unemployed people registered at job centres in Bulgaria in September 2022, the Employment Agency reported on Friday. This is the lowest monthly unemployment level since records began at the agency. In relative terms, September 2022 unemployment also hit an all-time low, at 4.2%. It dropped by 0.5 percentage points compared with September 2021 and 0.1 percentage points compared with August 2022.
Newly registered jobless persons in September 2022 numbered 22,314. That was 3,284 more than in August 2022 and 577 more than in September 2021. Another 904 job seekers in the categories of working, studying and retired people also registered at job centres in September 2022.
The largest numbers of job vacancies posted by employers in September 2022 were for: teachers; operators of stationary machines and installations; shop assistants; workers in the extracting and manufacturing industries, construction and transport; personal service staff; fitters; social care workers; waste collection workers; highly qualified staff producing food, apparel, wooden products, etc.; metal workers, machine builders, etc.
A total of 14,376 people started work in September 2022, while 621 persons in the categories of working, studying and retired people also found jobs over the month in review.
The largest number of those who found jobs in September 2022 started work in the manufacturing industries, followed by education, trade, the hotel and restaurant business.
The agency further reported that 2,682 unemployed members of at-risk groups received subsidized jobs. Another 2,174 began to work under temporary employment programmes, and 508 under Operational Programme Human Resources Development.
As BTA reported earlier, the month of August 2022 also saw record-low unemployment.
