site.btaElectricity Price for Business Consumers Down by 26% on Saturday
The price of electricity on the day ahead market was 375.65 leva/MWh (VAT excluded), according to data about transactions after the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange closed. The transactions were concluded with a delivery date for October 15.
On October 13, the exchange closed at a price of 509.88 leva/MWh, meaning that the electricity for businesses will be cheaper by 26.33 per cent from a day earlier.
The average price of peak electricity (9 am-8 pm) was 387.58 leva/MWh. Off- peak electricity (1 am-8 am and 9 pm-00 am) traded at an average 363.69 leva/MWh.
IBEX data shows that a total of 52,269.90 MWh were traded.
On the day ahead market IBEX traded 2,071.60 MWh in 60-minute intraday products. The average weighted daily price is 525.18 leva MWh (VAT excluded). In the 15-minute intraday products segment the average weighted price is 523.17 leva/MWh (VAT excluded) and the total volume of sold electricity is 485.70 MWh.
Parliament voted compensation for businesses for the high price of electricity with the budget update for 2022. Under the scheme the fund for security of the electricity system will compensate business consumers for the difference between the average monthly price of electricity on the day ahead market and a base price of 250 leva/MWh between July 1 and December 31. Consumers who buy electricity at a price lower than 250 leva/MWh are not eligible for compensation.
