site.btaEconomy Minister: No Need for Compensations for Gas Prices, Crisis Has Passed
In an interview on Nova TV on Saturday morning, caretaker Economy and Industry Minister Nikola Stoyanov said that there is an energy crisis across Europe and everyone solves it in more or less the say way: by using the excessive profits of energy companies to fund compensations and thus give businesses stable prices. “Bulgaria has been doing very well in that respect over the last two months, we are stable,” he added. According to him, gas compensations will not be necessary here because the prices will be far below the ceiling set by businesses.
“The tenders we have launched are until the end of 2023, we expect very competitive prices, so you can say that this crisis is behind is,” he commented.
"The situation is quite dynamic and if two months ago you had asked me whether I expect a positive scenario, I would have said no. Now we have a long-term contract with Azerbaijan, we can add to it such contracts for liquefied natural gas and pipeline gas,” Stoyanov also said.
