site.btaBCCI Launches Project to Promote Green Horizon Industries in Bulgaria

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) is launching a project for promoting green horizon industries (SMART) under the Operational Programme Good Governance, the Chamber said.

The aim of the project is to take concrete steps to achieve partnership management with the active participation of the citizens and the business of the process for the introduction of the principles of the circular economy in Bulgaria’s industrial ecosystem, as one of the instruments for implementation of the main principles of the EU Green Deal and of the Strategy for Transition to Circular Economy 2021-2027. This is planned to be achieved through boosting interaction between the business, citizens and the administration in implementing green policies and a better transparency and accountability of the public administration in this field.

The project will popularize the introduction of the circular economy in the industry for resource efficient and competitive economy through studying the pace of the introduction of the circular economy in the industry, reasons for delay and the rate of implementation of the green principles by sectors and regions. The project will study applicable good practices of accelerated transition to circular economy and of active involvement of the business and citizens in the monitoring of the implementation of green policies. An assessment will be made of the findings about the achieved rate of application of circular economy and of the trends. Legislative and administrative recommendations will be put forward for promotion of introduction of the circular economy as one of the instruments of the Strategy.
