site.btaBig Small Awards Presented for Eighth Time

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of the economy and a driver of economic growth even during a crisis, Economy and Industry Minister Nikola Stoyanov said in Sofia on Wednesday. He was at the eighth annual ceremony for presenting The Big Small Awards of the 24 Chasa daily.

Stoyanov said that over 30,000 SMEs are established in Bulgaria every year. One and a half million people work in such companies.

The minister presented the award in the "Social Entrepreneurship" category to Rabotosposobni.bg, an online platform helping socially disadvantaged people pursue successful careers.

The ceremony was also attended by Vice President Iliana Iotova and Innovation and Growth Minister Alexander Pulev.
