During the opening of the 2022 Inter Drone Expo in Sofia on Thursday, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Nikolay Naydenov said his ministry is working to ease the administrative procedures for use of drone so as to ensure safety. Naydenov pointed out, as quoted by the Ministry press office, that economic operators will have an equal access to the market  when providing U-Space services, as well as for determining exact geographical areas. Compliance with the safety and security rules will be required, as well as obtaining prior permission for use of drones.

"It is important to determine, together with experts from the sector, the correct mechanisms of work and control, as well as the adequate geographical areas for safety and security, using the best global practices. This is how we will guarantee economic development, privacy and environmental protection. These issues are to be discussed in the Ministry of Transport by a permanent working group for the coordination mechanism of U-Space," noted Naydenov.

Inter Drone Expo is the first specialized exhibition for drones and unmanned machines in the Balkans. It opened in Sofia on Thursday and will continue until October 23.
