The last two months saw the approval of BGN 14 billion in resources under seven EU-funded operational programmes. The national co-funding exceeds BGN 2 billion, meaning that over BGN 16 billion will flow into Bulgarian economy in the next six years, caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov told a briefing on the state of operational programmes and EU funds for the coming programming period.
In his words, despite the EU-skeptical voices that have been rising lately, this is a real resource that will help the country’s state. This money is of extreme significance for Bulgarian economy, SMEs, and key infrastructure and it will address important problems facing Bulgaria, he added.
Caretaker Innovation and Growth Minister Alexander Pulev told the briefing that the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) is working, with two out of four procedures for 2022 already open to support enterprises. “We have successes in two main directions in the context of EU resources: the NRRP and two programmes that are part of the Structural Funds,” he said.
