More than BGN 5 billion will be allocated for reforms and investments in the social sector over the next seven years, caretaker Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy Natalia Efremova said during a press conference here on Friday. The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy is responsible for reforms and investments worth over BGN 1.2 billion, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The Operational Programme Human Resources Development was the first to be approved by the European Commission in August 2022. The Programme's total budget is more than BGN 3.8 billion, Efremova said and added that more than 740,000 people will benefit from it. The biggest share of more than BGN 2.3 billion will be invested in developing the labour market by training both employed and unemployed persons, preparing for the economy's digital transition, and creating jobs.

Another major area, the assistance for better social inclusion, will see investments worth BGN 1.370 billion.
