The Hellenic Petroleum Group becomes HELLENiQ ENERGY, announced the Group's CEO Andreas Shiamishis, who presented Friday in Sofia Tech Park the new corporate identity of the company - one of the largest energy companies in the Balkans and owner of the EKO gas station chain.
"Hellenic Petroleum" will be used as a name only for the business related to the company's refineries, Shiamishis clarified. He pointed out that more than 1,100 people work at a hundred or so EKO filling stations in Bulgaria.
The group aims to reduce its carbon footprint. Investment plans will change to achieve this strategic direction. "Corporate identity is a way of showing people that we want to change and that we are changing," Shiamishis pointed out.
The company's main commitments are to invest in energy efficiency, "green" fuels and different types of products, and to develop biofuels, recycling and electromobility.
HELLENiQ ENERGY is a very active company in buying and selling electricity. Opportunities are being explored to develop the electricity business in Bulgaria as well, the CEO said.
