site.btaLabour Inspectorate Organizes Public Initiatives to Mark its 115th Anniversary
To mark 115 years since its establishment, the General Labour Inspectorate Executive Agency (GLI) has organized a series of public initiatives, the GLI said in a press release Tuesday.
Chief legal consultant Vladimir Voutov from the central office of the GLI, with the assistance of the Foundation for Social Change and Inclusion, has consulted youths from specialized institutions on their labour rights. They have been informed about the documents they need to present to employers to start work and what to do after the termination of employment relations.
GLI representatives in Dobrich, Lovech, and Teteven have consulted graduates from local schools.
Volunteer initiatives have also been organized, such as tree planting.
The GLI was established as a Labour Inspectorate by decree of Prince Ferdinand on November 3, 1907, shows information on the GLI’s website. According to the decree, the new institution was to apply the laws, rules, and ordinances on industry, trade, crafts, and protection of workers.
The first Bulgarian law in the field of safety and hygiene at work was adopted in 1917. Tasked with the control on its observation was the Labour Inspectorate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Trade.
