site.btaBulgaria's Industry, Energy Ministers Visit Revithoussa LNG Terminal

Bulgaria's Energy Minister Rossen Hristov and Economy and Industry Minister Nikola Stoyanov visited the Revithoussa LNG Terminal in Greece, the Energy Ministry said on Friday. Maria Rita Galli, CEO at DESFA SA - Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator, hosted the meeting.

Executive Directors Deniza Slateva of Bulgargaz and Vladimir Malinov of Bulgartransgaz participated in the meeting as well.

During the visit the sides discussed the opportunities for long-term strategic cooperation. The main topics included increasing the technical capacity of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) from 3 billion to 5 billion cubic metres a year.

The commercial operation of the IGB was launched with a ceremony in Sofia on October 1.

Also discussed were installing additional compressor capacity to increase pressure in the Greek gas transmission system, as well as the timeframe for implementing those activities and the form and participation in their financing. The Bulgarian delegation watched the unloading of a tanker carrying LNG from Norway for delivery in November under an agreement between a Greek supplier and Bulgargaz.

The meeting was part of the two-day visit to Greece by a Bulgarian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Transport and Communications Minister Hristo Aleksiev.
