The number of commissioned residential buildings in Bulgaria in the third quarter of 2022 was 1,316, with 5,812 dwellings in them, which is 458 or 53.4%, and 2,008 or 52.8%, respectively, up from the Q3 2021 data, the National Statistical Institute said on Monday.
The region of Plovdiv, Southern Bulgaria, had the highest number of commissioned residential buildings in Q3, 2022 - 196, with 581 dwellings, followed by Sofia, 170 buildings and 1,493 dwellings, and Burgas, on the Black Sea, 141 buildings and 553 dwellings.
Of the newly built dwellings, the highest share, 37.9%, were such with two rooms and a kitchen, followed by dwellings with three rooms and a kitchen, 33.6%. Dwellings with six or more rooms accounted for 3.8%.
The total floor area of the newly-built dwellings in the Q3 2022 was 548 900 sq m, which is 48.4% up compared to the Q3 2021 figure. The residential area increased by 52.7% to 436,800 sq m. The average floor area of a newly-built dwelling dropped to 94.4 sq m in Q3 2022, from 97.2 sq m a year earlier.
The biggest average floor area of a newly-built dwelling in Q3 2022 was in the region of Silistra, Northeastern Bulgaria, 218.7 sq m, and Smolyan, Southwestern Bulgaria, 172.3 sq m. The smallest average floor area was in Razgrad, 66.9 sq m, and in Turgovishte, 70 sq m, both in Northeastern Bulgaria.
