site.btaBulgaria at WTM London: A Dayful of Meetings

On the first day of the World Travel Market (WTM) international tourism exhibition, which is taking place in London between November 7 and 9, Bulgarian caretaker Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov held over ten meetings with top executives in the tourism branch, the Tourism Ministry in Sofia said in a press release on Tuesday.

Meeting with low-cost Saudi Arabian Flynas, Dimitrov assured that Bulgaria strives to step on new markets like that destination by promoting their opportunities for tourism. The Flynas representatives said the company is equally focused on a specific interest in Bulgaria.

One of the top travel agents in Great Briatin, Jet2holidays, expect a nearly 30% increase of British tourists for the Bulgarian market in 2024, reaching pre-pandemic levels. The company already has 64,000 places for Bulgaria booked for 2024.

Dimitrov also had a working meeting with representatives of the trade association for UK travel agents, tour operators and the wider travel industry, ABTA, at which they presented their activity, discussed advertisement campaigns and how the state could assist the process. ABTA has over 4,300 members.

The Bulgarian Tourism Minister and the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association Chairman Jason Ferguson discussed the opportunities of sport and tourism in one. Among other things, the European Snooker Championship, to be held in the Black Sea resort of Albena on June 4-17, 2023, was also discussed.
