site.btaGovernment, Businesses, Experts Discuss Winter Tourism Prospects in Bansko

The prospects for Bulgarian tourism this winter will be discussed at a forum in the winter resort of Bansko Thursday. The event is organized by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).

This is the second edition of the BTA's initiative for discussions to be held twice every year: at the beginning of the summer and winter tourist seasons, with representatives of state and municipal institutions, the tourism business, NGOs, academics and experts.

Among the participants in the Thursday forum are Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov, the deputy chair of the parliamentary committee, Hristo Prodanov, representatives of local authorities, heads of organizations in the tourism business and mountain resort managers, educational institutions in the field of tourism, and the news media.

In mid-October, Minister Dimitrov expressed his expectation that the upcoming winter season would be better than the previous one, which, in his words, was record-breaking. He said those expectations were based on early booking figures. He also said that Bulgarian winter tourism shows growth in a number of markets, including in the UK and Israel.
