site.btaMore Visitors from UK, Romania, Israel Expected This Winter - Tourism Minister

Speaking at a forum in the mountain resort of Bansko on Thursday, caretaker Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov once again expressed his expectation that the upcoming winter season would be better than the previous one. The event is organized by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).

This winter season, the number of tourists from Bulgaria will again be the highest, Dimitrov said. There is a strong interest in Bulgaria from the UK, as well - there are some 30% more bookings by British tourists this winter, compared to the previous one. There has also been growth in bookings by Romanian (7%) and Israeli tourists, the Minister stressed.

The increased interest in Bulgaria is also lies in the fact that this country managed to keep the prices of its tourist services at a good level, while in Central Europe those prices have risen nearly twice. In Bulgaria, the prices are up by some 2 to 2.5%, which corresponds to the economic situation in the country, Dimitrov explained.

The Ministry has also launched a campaign to promote Bulgarian tourism in several countries, the first of which was Poland. Campaign meetings are also to be held in Israel, the UK, Germany, Czechia, and Hungary before the start of the 2023 summer season.

In Dimitrov's words, the event in Bansko is of extreme importance.

The forum discusses prospects for Bulgarian tourism. This is the second edition of the BTA's initiative for discussions to be held twice every year: at the beginning of the summer and winter tourist seasons, with representatives of state and municipal institutions, the tourism business, NGOs, academics and experts.
